Jan 30, 2025

Nothing says I love you like a homemade meal straight from the heart! These cheesy stuffed shells are the perfect way to treat your Valentine (or yourself) to something warm, comforting, and irresistibly creamy. Made with Westby Creamery cottage cheese and grated parmesan, this dish brings a rich and velvety texture to every bite. Whether you’re planning a romantic dinner or a cozy night in, this recipe is sure to make hearts (and taste buds) melt.

For the ultimate Valentine’s Day feast, start the evening with a Butter Candle for Two, a unique and delicious appetizer to enjoy while the pasta bakes. Then finish dinner on a sweet note with our 5-Minute Chocolate Lava Cake—rich, gooey, and made with love.

Ingredients:

  • 6 oz jumbo pasta shells (we used about 19 shells)
  • 1 cup Westby Creamery cottage cheese (about half a 16 oz. container)
  • 2 cups shredded mozzarella
    • Pro tip: We recommend shredding your own, as it tends to melt better but you can use pre-shredded to save time.
  • ¼ cup Westby Creamery grated parmesan
  • 2 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp onion powder
  • 1 tsp black pepper
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 24 oz jar of pasta sauce of choice (we used marinara)
  • Fresh basil to garnish

Directions:

  1. Bring a large pot of water to boil and cook noodles one minute less than al dente according to the package instructions.
  2. Meanwhile, preheat the oven to 375 and begin shredding your mozzarella cheese – if you decide against the pre-shredded option.
  3. In a medium sized bowl, combine cottage cheese, 1 cup of shredded mozzarella (save the other cup for later), parmesan, and seasonings.
  4. Once noodles are finished boiling, drain and rinse with cold water. (This helps cool them down before stuffing).
  5. Grease an 8” x 8” pan and spread half the jar of pasta sauce along the bottom.
  6. Now it’s time to get stuffing! Use about two tablespoons of filling to stuff each pasta shell and place them in the pan. (They should be lined up tightly next to one another.)
  7. Once all the shells are stuffed in the pan, pour the remaining pasta sauce and sprinkle the remaining mozzarella evenly over the top.
  8. Bake for about 18 minutes. Broil for two minutes to get the cheese nice and golden brown!
  9. Let cool for 5-10 minutes before serving and enjoy!
