Dip Named Grand Champion at 2022 State Fair

Westby Cooperative Creamery was awarded first place for its French onion dip and sour cream in the 2022 Wisconsin State Fair Dairy Products Contest on June 23. Winners were then invited to the Blue Ribbon Dairy Products Auction on Thursday, Aug. 11 at the Wisconsin State Fair Park where Westby Creamery was awarded Grand Champion Sour Cream for its French onion dip.
“Wisconsin makes world-class cheeses, sour creams and dips. We are proud to be listed among the best in the state,” Pete Kondrup, the Creamery’s general manager said. “Our small family farms work hard to produce quality milk to help create award-winning products like these.”
The Blue Ribbon Dairy Products Auction is a fundraiser for the Wisconsin State Fair Dairy Promotion Board. Auction proceeds fund scholarships for students pursuing dairy-related degrees and support the board’s interactive educational display – Dairy Lane. This year, 20 pounds of Westby French onion dip and sour cream raised $2,000 for those scholarships thanks to Dairyland Packaging. A total of $45,565 were raised at the event.
Westby Cooperative Creamery has been in continual operation since 1903 and is unique in that it accepts both organic and conventional milk from its patron-member-owners. The Westby Creamery dairy foods include cottage cheeses, sour creams, dairy dips, yogurts, butter, cheese curds and other cheese products.
