Westby Creamery Welcomes New Sales Rep

Westby Cooperative Creamery is excited to announce the addition of Mike Horan to the sales and marketing team as a sales representative. His position will focus on bulk and private label sales.
Horan has been in business-to-business sales for about 25 years. It is a journey that began right out of high school at Marsh & McLennan, the world’s largest insurance broker. He continued in the insurance industry at American International Group in Chicago, Ill.
Horan and his family made the transition from the Chicagoland area to the beautiful driftless region in 1999. He and his wife now live in Viroqua, Wis. with their recently adopted Corgi puppy.
Upon arrival in Wisconsin, Horan joined APAC Customer Service in La Crosse and then spent his last 14 years at Building Automation Products in Gays Mills.
His transition to dairy sales is quite natural because of his love of gardening. He and his daughters did commercial vegetable farming for five years where they worked on an acre of land filled with roughly 2,000 peppers and 4,000 pumpkins. This has given Horan a small inclination as to the hard work dairy farmers put in day in and day out. “I admire their dedication and ability to adapt as each day has its own, new challenges,” he said.
Horan appreciates the authenticity and ingenuity of everyone he has met thus far at the Creamery. “I am excited to support a real, true mission-based company like Westby,” he said. He is happy to be in a position that allows him to highlight the benefits of a great, local dairy.
Horan grew up in Wheaton, Ill., which is about 20 miles from Chicago. He eventually met his wife, Diana, and together they had three daughters and a son who have all grown up and started their own lives.
Horan loves spending time with his family whether it be a simple get together at their house or a trip across the country. His hobbies include golfing and gardening. He even has his own special pesto recipe that he crafts with his own home-grown vegetables.
